SCOTT KATO

Coach Scott was born and raised in the Aloha State. His love for the game started on the hardwood as a player known for his intensity and defense first mentality. He was an All-State player and his team won the Hawaii State Championship. Scott was a NCAA Division 1 volleyball recruit that decided to play basketball instead. He was a 4 year player at Hawaii Pacific University, a 2 year starter who garnered Pacific West All Conference Team honors his senior year. Directly after college, Scott decided he wanted to get into coaching. Some of his experiences were with High school boys and girls Varsity and JV programs. He also participated in a player development role with his prior college team and Hawaii’s semi-pro team players. Anything that involved basketball he was around. Scott’s favorite past basketball experience was managing the Special Olympics of Hawaii Basketball annual event, that hosted hundreds of athletes from across the State of Hawaii.
Currently, Coach Scott is the Director of Basketball for the 6th Boro Hoops Girls program and the Head Coach for the Hackley JV Girls school team.
